On September 14, National Anthem Day was celebrated at Eissler School. Mr. Stone organized the celebration to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the "Star Spangled Banner" as the national anthem. The Mayor of Bakersfield issued a proclamation.

The Mayor of the City of Bakersfield, California, has officially proclaimed September 14, 2006 as" National Anthem Day” in our city in recognition of the anniversary of the writing of “THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER”, an important part of America’s cultural heritage; in recognition of Eissler Elementary School place’s participation in, “THE NATIONAL ANTHEM PROJECT: Restoring country-region America country-region’s Voice”, which is a campaign aimed at shining the spotlight on the importance of school music programs; and in recognition of providing an opportunity to celebrate the importance of music in our schools.

Eissler Principal Diane Adame introducing everyone.
The South High School Jr. ROTC presented the colors.
Ariel Rodgers led the flag salute. The musical selection
was from the Fendrick Brass Ensemble.
VAPA Coordinator Michael Stone explained
why the day was special. Eissler student, Brittany
Joyner-Body read her essay on the National Anthem.
Ms. Katie Dix performing "The Star Spangled Banner".
After that there was school-wide singing of the National
Anthem.
