General Election Information for Students
1.) General qualifications for student body office are as follows:a. Must be an independent and responsible student who can afford to occasionally miss class.Any classroom work must be made up. Monthly
meetings will be scheduled during lunch time. b. Must earn a B or better in conduct and effort and a B or better in academics. c. Must have exhibited positive leadership qualities in the classroom and on the playground.Candidates should exhibit desire for service work and team work.
d. Must have approval of the following people: parent, teacher, and principal/
counselor.
e. Must follow procedures and regulations of campaigning.
f. Must be sincerely interested in, and dedicated to the high standards of
Eissler School. All elected officers will be expected to work hard and be
responsible to the student body and staff of Eissler School.
2.) Candidates must have necessary forms completed and handed in to Miss Cassady by August 31.
3.) Candidates can make two 18" x 12" posters, one for the cafeteria and one for the classroom. 9" x 12" posters may be displayed in any fourth, fifth, or sixth grade classroom (upon teacher approval). Miss Cassady must approve posters for posting. No commercially or computer made posters will be allowed. Posters may be made from paper available in the office.
4.) Candidates may make paper campaign badges to give out on Election Day only. Candidates may nor give gifts, candy or gum. Badges are to be approved by Miss Cassady. All candidates will help keep the campus free of discarded paper from the badges and posters.
5.) Candidates are to prepare and give a campaign speech lasting no longer than two minutes. The assembly will be held in the morning assembly on Friday, Septerber 7th at 8:30 a.m. There are to be no campaign managers. Practice election assembly will be held Wednesday Sept. 5th at 1:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.
6.) Officers will be elected from the 5th and 6th grade classes; all 4th through 6th graders will be allowed to vote.
