Homework:

3rd Grade students will receive homework from Mrs. Patrick.

English Language Arts students -Record a reading log for Monday - Thursday that includes date, pages read, minutes read, title, something about what was read. Study spelling words and be prepared to test on Friday.

Later, I may include a few other items on ELA homework:            repeated reading practice to improve fluency and high                frequency words.

Math Homework - Students will bring home math homework approximately once a week. I will highlight problems if there are only a few I would like the students to complete. If there aren't problems highlighted, I would like them to try all problems.

Students who finish all of their homework - every day of reading, every word practiced some way for spelling, and all assigned math problems completed - are invited to have lunch in the classroom on Monday (usually). We will watch a movie (each movie will take several weeks), and students are allowed to play games.

Late homework will not be penalized.

I will not reproduce homework for students. Taking homework home and returning it to school is a good way for students to gain some responsibility for themselves. They are getting older and need to take on some of the responsibility for things that pertain to their lives. The reading log is a constant and can be written on a piece of binder paper if homework is lost.

Eissler is having "Family Picnic Days" this year. The flier sent home included the following information:

"Eissler would like to invite all of our families to join their children for lunch on the first Thursday of each month. Students may get lunch from the cafeteria, but parents need to bring their lunch. Please bring a blanket or sheet to sit on."

Each grades' lunch time was included:

K - 1:00

1st, 2nd, & 3rd - 11:45

4th, 5th, & 6th - 12:17

The following dates are scheduled as picnic days:
